External Affairs & Economic Development Committee
Purpose: The External Affairs & Economic Development Committee brings SoTX partners together to discuss key issues affecting South Texas at the local, state, and federal levels. The committee also facilitates conversations around land use, economic development, and other priorities impacting our regional business community.
Committee members help identify partner priorities, inform advocacy efforts, and develop recommendations and position statements for consideration by the SoTX Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Committee Goals:
- Identify and elevate priorities impacting SoTX partners and the South Texas region.
- Support partners on relevant local, state, and federal issues.
- Advocate for policies that strengthen our business community and regional economy.
- Contribute ideas for speakers, policy discussions, and stakeholder engagement.
- Encourage civic and voter engagement.
This Month: Congressional Candidate Conversation
Join the South Texas Business Partnership’s External Affairs & Economic Development Committee on Tuesday, September 1, at 2:00 PM for the first of two Congressional Candidate Conversations.We will be joined by Congressional District 35 candidate Carlos De La Cruz for a conversation about his vision, priorities, and perspectives on issues impacting South Texas businesses and communities.
This is the first conversation in a two-part series. Congressional District 35 candidate Johnny Garcia will join SoTX for the second conversation on Tuesday, October 6.
