Southwest ISD Annual Olympic Fiesta

Southwest ISD has taken the former Special Olympics Track & Field Meet to a new level by fusing it with Fiesta flair creating an Olympic Fiesta. More than 200 Southwest ISD student athletes will go for the gold at this year's Olympic Fiesta. This Olympic Fiesta will include the following events: softball throw, running and standing long jump, turbo-jav, shot put, noodle throw, motorized and manual wheel chair races, 25M walk and assisted walking, 25M, 50M and 100M dash, as well as several relay running events. The event will kick off with an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m., this will include a torch run with SWISD's ROTC, and competition from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. In addition, over 300 volunteers will be manning 60 booths, which will be providing food, games, information, and merchandise to purchase. Performances by different groups from around the district will be highlighted throughout the day. This event will allow community members who do not have a student participating in the competition to attend the event and enjoy a "Fiesta" style atmosphere.
