SUMMARY:Drive Thru Shred Day
DESCRIPTION:Better Business Bureau (BBB) along with community partners are hosting regional paper shredding events aimed at preventing identity theft. Shred events are free to the public with a limit of 5 bankers' boxes or bags of paper document to be shred on-site. Shred trucks will begin shredding at 9:00 a.m. and will stay until 12:00 p.m. or until trucks are full. \n\n\n\nWith respect to social distancing guidelines\, shred events are drive-through. Participants do not need to exit their vehicle as volunteers will take boxes from vehicles and return them (as boxes cannot be shred). Consumers are asked to remove paper clips\, staples and/or metal binders before the event. \n\nTo help prevent ID theft in our communities\, BBB recommends shredding documents that have bank account information\, Social Security/Social Insurance number\, credit card applications\, insurance forms\, financial statements\, health forms and billing statements from utilities and phone providers. While you should keep your tax returns forever\, you should shred supporting documents for your tax returns after seven years.
